That's what she claims. Afterall, first impression counts and we can't help but be subtly reminded of sexy diva, Karen Mok when Tarcy first appeared in Richie Ren's concert with the former's big, frizzy (read: trademark) hairdo. Eastciti has Tarcy's outcries of denial.

"No, I'm not trying to imitate or look like Karen Mok with my new frizzy hairdo. In fact, I'm not even the least reminded of her. I am actually a little sick of my straight hair. I want a change of look - so I chose this special hairstyle for myself. I kind of like it, don't you too?" insists a calm and composed Tarcy as a matter-of-factly when asked about her sudden switch of image.

Tarcy adds: "Moreover, I'm not as 'happening' and wild as her (Karen). I won't try too hard to be someone I'm not. I just want to present myself to the audience and do things that are close to my heart.

"Afterall, external looks are not all that important. For an artiste, packaging counts a great deal. In fact, I may even decide to shave bald if the shape of my head fits that image or if I'm able to carry the look well," says the Taiwanese singer, who has been in the industry for more than 10 years.

But Tarcy is quick to abolish that possibility as she quips with a wide grin: "But then again, I don't think so because my mom would most probably not allow me to do that. She's quite strict with me. In fact, I can't get a tattoo or navel ring too."

"Anyway, I'm no quirky character by nature so I won't do anything too outrageous. For instance, I won't try to be as 'hot' as Karen on purpose because I know I can't carry that funky personality off as well as she does. In fact, I may appear out of place and weird. I would still strive to challenge myself but I won't do anything that's unlike of me," explains Tarcy smilingly.

Aside from her locks, Tarcy is currently in the midst of preparing her upcoming album due to be released next year after returning from the States from a short 3-months English course. Is she intending to venture into the international music market?

Elaborates Tarcy: "No. I'm just learning the language for my own interest. I feel that English is gaining importance and much emphasis is increasingly placed on it in many countries. So I just want to improve on my command of it since it's so useful worldwide.

"When I was in the USA, I spoke English almost all the time because of the very nature of the English-speaking environment there. It was such a good place to force myself to communicate in English with the others. But ever since I came back to Taiwan, I'm beginning to feel that I've quite forgotten how to speak English gradually because everyone speaks Mandarin there," quips Tarcy helplessly.

When asked about her idea of a perfect Christmas, Tarcy reveals dreamily: "Right now, I've no plans for Christmas yet. But I would love to spend a white and snowy winter Christmas in the USA. That would be most ideal, I guess."
